Getting Started

To find out what room you are using, check Courses@Penn here: https://advising.at.upenn.edu/instructor/

For more information regarding the layout and technology available in your classroom, you can check through the UPenn Room Scheduling portal here: https://roomscheduling.srfs.upenn.edu/portal/p/Home

Every Central Pool classroom has a touch panel to control the AV system, a computer in the room, a projector or large display, and the ability to connect a laptop to the system.

*Note - Instructors are responsible for bringing their own dongle to connect from their device to the system in their room*

To connect with a personal device such as a Laptop or Tablet rooms will have an HDMI cable, a USB for Mic/Camera connection, and many also include USB-C. Rooms may have a Solstice Pod for wirelessly connecting one or more devices such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones to the system to accomodate student work or other devices. For more information see here: https://documentation.mersive.com/en/use-solstice.html#use-solstice

Many rooms include remote learning technology like microphones (either ceiling mics or lapel mics) and camera(s) to accomodate hybrid or hi-flex learning. Some rooms have additional technology like a second computer, a document camera, multiple projectors, or smart classroom features.

How do I get help with issues in the room?

Emergent Technology Issue: Classroom 911 number: 215-573-8327.

This number and an email address for tech assistance are posted on the in room computer desktop, at the chalk supply station, and just outside each classroom. This number goes to a dispatch service for issues found while in the room and someone needs to come take a look at the system. We can also look into non-emergency issues after the fact if reported to this phone number. You can also contact us through email by using the email address listed on the computers desktop or elsewhere in the room, or this can be found through the Classroom Scheduling Portal here: https://roomscheduling.srfs.upenn.edu/portal/p/Home

First time use or reporting of a long term issue please use the email in the classroom or find the Local Support group for that building here: https://computing.sas.upenn.edu/support

For non tech issues in the room including the lights, blackboards, desks, floor, or temperature control, you'll want to reach out to the building administrator. Their contact information is posted at the chalk supply station and just outside each room. You can also find this information here: https://facilities.upenn.edu/contacts/building
