SAS Computing Apple Options List

  • Faculty & Staff

This table summarizes the standard options for new Apple computers provided through the SAS Computing allocations program for standing faculty (i.e. tenure track) only. If you are in a different type of position, please contact your local computing support provider (LSP) for information on how to get a computer.

Current technology presents cost and performance trade-offs that should be reviewed with your local computing support provider (LSP) to ensure that you choose the computer that will best meet your requirements. The computer options below reflect a range of possible choices. If none of them provide the configuration you require, your LSP can help you choose a customized configuration.

  3. If you would prefer a shorter wait time, we still have some M3 models in stock.

  4. The 15-inch MacBook Air has a similar configuration to the 13-inch. Some people prefer the larger screen despite the added weight, but if you mostly work in the office and at home, an external monitor in each location may be preferable. Please contact your  local computing support provider for more information

  5. There is a cheaper 14-inch MacBook Pro option that comes with an M4 (not M4 Pro) processor and 16 GB of RAM. It requires a $460 instead of a $810 charge to your faculty research funds or other Penn account. In addition, there are many other configurations available.  Please contact your local computing support provider for more information.
