This table summarizes the standard options for new Apple computers provided through the SAS Computing allocations program for standing faculty (i.e. tenure track) only . If you are in a different type of position, please contact your local computing support provider (LSP) for information on how to get a computer.
Current technology presents cost and performance trade-offs that should be reviewed with your local computing support provider (LSP) to ensure that you choose the computer that will best meet your requirements. The computer options below reflect a range of possible choices. If none of them provide the configuration you require, your LSP can help you choose a customized configuration.

Notes
-
Higher end desktop computers with separate larger displays are available. Please contact your local computing support providerfor more information
-
If you don't want to wait for one of the newest models with an M3 processor to arrive, we do have in stock a few of the previous model, that have an M2 processor. For more information, please contact allocations@sas.upenn.edu.
-
The 15-inch MacBook Air has a similar configuration to the 13-inch. Some people prefer the larger screen despite the added weight, but if you mostly work in the office and at home, an external monitor in each location may be preferable. Please contact your local computing support provider for more information
-
There is a $170 cheaper option with an M3 (not Pro) processor, 16 GB of RAM, and 2 instead of 3 USB-C ports. It requires a $340 instead of $510 charge to your faculty research funds or other Penn account. Please contact your local computing support provider for more information
