The mathematics department should be covered by both AirPennNet and AirPennNet-Guest. If you have any signal issues in any areas please report them to manager@math.upenn.edu as once we know about them it is usually trivial to fix them.
If you are planning on connecting to wireless for any significant amount of time it is highly suggested that you use AirPennNet over AirPennNet-Guest. AirPennNet is not only faster, but also more secure, as it uses stronger encryption. You can access AirPennNet and AirPennNet-Guest from many places all around campus, please see ISC's coverage map.
For information on how to set up wireless on your own please see below.
AirPennNet-Guest
Accessing the internet from AirPennNet-Guest is as simple as connecting to AirPennNet-Guest and then entering your email in the pop-up window. This will automatically redirect you to a website where you can enter your PennKey credentials and be assigned an IP address. If you are a visitor you can request a temporary PennKey. Please contact Monica in the math office for more information.
Note: You should only use AirPennNet-Guest for temporary access, if you will be here on a more permanent basis it is wise to set up AirPennNet as your wireless connection.
AirPennNet
Accessing the internet from AirPennNet is simple. For PCs, just select AirPennNet on your machine and enter your Pennkey as the user name and Pennkey password for your password. For other devices connect to AirPennNet-Guest and click the Guest Access button. Enter any email address and follow the on screen prompts. After connecting to the Guest network, you can go to http://bit.ly/airpennnet to set up AirPennNet on your device. More in depth instructions can be found by clicking here.
