SEP Retirement and Sophos Replacement On Personally Owned Computers

  • Faculty & Staff
  • Students & Alumni

The University of Pennsylvania’s license for Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) for personally owned computers ends on May 24th, 2022. After this date, the software will continue to function and provide protection, but only for a limited time. It is recommended to remove this software and install a different antivirus software as soon as possible.

***NOTE*** THE INFORMATION BELOW PERTAINS ONLY TO PERSONALLY PURCHASED DEVICES. IF YOU FIND SEP IS STILL RUNNING ON YOUR PENN PROVIDED COMPUTER AFTER JUNE 1, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SAS COMPUTING LOCAL SUPPORT PROVIDER.

The University provides access to Sophos Home free of charge to Penn faculty, staff and students to install on up to 10 personal devices. If you’d like to use this software, go to Sophos Home to download and install the software.

***NOTE*** It is important that you completely remove SEP and restart your computer before attempting to install Sophos.
