Biographical Information

Chris is a Senior I.T Support Specialist & Multimedia Manager at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where he specializes in I.T. support and consultation, live webcast production, online learning and website building.

Since 2012, he has worked with Professor Al Filreis to create and offer Modern and Contemporary Poetry (ModPo), a free course on Coursera.org, to more than 100,000 students. Known for its high levels of student engagement and retention, the course offers a very popular series of 10+ live webcasts each Fall. During these broadcasts, students around the world are given the opportunity to call, tweet and tune into the webcast to ask questions and have discussions directly with Professor Filreis and his teaching assistants. Chris and the team use the free webcasting platforms, YouTube Live and Facebook Live, to create and stream these broadcasts. To date, ModPo’s YouTube videos have been viewed more than 100,000 times.

Chris comes to us from the Steinberg Conference Center at the Wharton School, where he provided IT and AV support to faculty, staff, and students using the conference center for Wharton's Executive Education program. Prior to that, Chris worked in radio and television (with companies such ESPN, CBS Radio & Comcast) and as an I.T. consultant for Temple University (where he graduated with a Bachelors in Communications & Broadcasting in 2008). He has his Masters Degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Leadership and Entrepreneurial Studies. Chris is on LinkedIn and can also be found here.
